Pearls of Wisdom

My beau went on a business trip to Hong Kong recently, and to my surprise, he returned with a beautiful strand of pearls for me. As I was preparing for my week, I began to reflect on those pearls and the first words that came to me was LOVE and WISDOM. With that, I decided my strand of pearls would become the inspiration for my blog, FLuidity’s POW (Pearls of Wisdom).

Pearls represent class and elegance. They can be paired with flashy stones or can shine all by themselves. No two are alike and REAL pearls are very cool to the touch. Pearls are gems, not stones and are very organic, found in mollusks and first recorded in China.

Much like my pearls, my blogs will be real, elegant, flashy with a little shine, cool, organic and full of wisdom. When wisdom is given, it should be treasured like a rare pearl. Matthew 7:6 admonishes against throwing “pearls before swine,” wasting what is valuable on fruitless endeavors. Therefore, these gems of wisdom will not be wasted but are meant to inspire, motivate and uplift you. No need to dig for these pearls in China; I do the “digging” (writing) for you.

Now that you know the origin of my blog, here’s your POW:

“There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it. you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.” ~ Howard Thurman, Author, Philosopher & Civil Rights Leader

Here are three (3) things you can do to rediscover the truth and realness of YOU:

Stop comparing YOUrself to others. Nothing good ever comes from human comparisons… EVER! You are unique, and you are strength personified. Other people’s Instagram may be rocking world adventures, high fashion and perfect relationships, but that may not be the truth of who they are. Focus on YOUrself and what brings you the most joy.

Spend time with YOUrself. If Jesus Christ can do it, so can you. No, I don’t mean spend time alone. I mean spend time WITH YOU. Take in the vision of you by being present not by capturing the moment in pictures. Understand?

Challenge YOUr fear. What is the thing you fear the most? Whatever that is, this week, I want you to do it. Go for it. Don’t even think about it. Then, I want you to ask YOUrself, “How did it feel to come out of your fear on your own terms?”

The answer will be exquisite – PERFECT!
